Weekend fun

What a great wrkend it was. For the girls and Courtney it started on Friday with a day of sledding then swimming at the JCC followed by lunch at Fresh City. Saturday had Kaija heading off to hee friend Miki's house for a sleep over, while the rest of us got ready to go to the Swing Dance at the UU church in Mobtclair. Chayton spent time with the other little ones in the babysitting room; Nazeriah, Courtney and I spent the entire evening dancing away. What a great time we all had. And do you believe it? We even made it to church on Sunday! What a great morning that was - Janice and Sabine did a wonderfull and insightfull service!

Kaija Lost Her First Tooth!

Can you believe it?!?!? Kaija lost her first tooth. I swear I got more emotional when I saw this, then when she started Kindergarten. She's growing up!!

We made a Tooth Pillow this weekend in anticipation of her tooth coming out - she picked the fabric: a pink cat print fleece for the pillow and a green silk for her tooth pocket. We finished it just in time. Monday night, we got out of the car to pick up Chayton at daycare; Kaija told me that her tooth had bent backwards - "Great!" I said, "Did you know that you can turn it around in circles?"

That did it! By the time we were in Chayton's room, her tooth was in her hand. Priceless! And thank goodness it happened so quickly and easily - as her sister is exclaiming that it's bloody ... whew ... glad no one thought too much about that. But wouldn't you know, Nazeriah was just as excited as her sister - "It's so 'citing, it's awesome, it's 'mazing - I'm going to tell all my friends." How sweet that she was so happy for her sister!

So, that night Kaija got out her Tooth Pillow and was all excited about the Tooth Fairy coming - but I think Nazeriah was even more exciting about the anticipated arrival of the Tooth Fairy. "Mommy, make sure you shut my door - but not all the way - just enough so that the Tooth Fairy doesn’t get confused and come into my room." Hmmm ... excited or a little worried about some strange fairy coming into her room that night??? The next morning, Nazeriah jumped out of bed, got dressed lickety-split, and started looking for the Tooth Fairy around the house. Sweetie! Of course, Kaija also jumped out of bed and checked her Tooth Pillow - and there was $1! I think that dollar is going to get wore out by all the handling it's getting. :-)

Suprise Trip to Florida

Last Saturday started as a normal Saturday - everyone waking up at the crack of dawn and eating breakfast. Then, we gathered the girls around and announced, "Go get dressed, you're going to Florida!"

An hour later, the girls and Courtney were waiting at the airport for their flight to Jacksonville, FL! (Courtney had a business trip and Grandma & Grandpa took time off to spend with the girls.) What a great life!

At the airport each girl received their very own digital camera to take pictures of their trip for their trip journal (see models at left).

Once on the plane, they were very busy, making phone calls, planning their day, etc. The life of 5-year-olds!

And once they touched ground in Florida, they were quite happy to trade their turtlenecks for short-sleeved shirts!

For the next 5 days, the girls were on vacation, visiting friends, going to the Jacksonville Zoo, to the Museum of Science and History (MoSH), and doing fun things like making muffins with Grandma!
