Chayton's "New" Backpack

Chayton finally needed a backpack for school - or at least needed one to make my life a little easier this week carrying his stuff.

So, what did we find? His niece Kyra's old backpack! Nana sent this to Kaija first to play with when Kyra had outgrown it, then Nazeriah played with it for a little while, and now Chayton has claimed it.

And he LOVES it! As you can tell by the pictures. He doesn't want to take it off!

Thanks Nana and Kyra!

First Day of Camp 2008!

Today was the first day of camp. The girls were so excited and had such a great time.

Kaija had swimming and t-ball and playground and drama and nature and cooking and soccer and low ropes and swimming.

Nazeriah had swimming and arts/crafts and music and hockey and low ropes and cooking and dance and swimming.

No wonder they are so tired!

Kindergarten Graduation - June 18, 2008

Can you believe it? Kindergarten Graduation was today. Wow. Where does the time go?

It was a wonderful day - starting out with the promotion ceremony at school followed by celebrations in each of the classrooms. After a few more pictures, we headed home to change and then on to Whole Foods for lunch. The girls picked to go eat at the new diner in Whole Foods - it was really yummy.

Next, into the car and off to New York City - Central Park. We ended up at Heckscher Playground, which is an amazing playground/water play area. Between the playground, water area and the nearby carousel, the girls had an amazing time - and got quite wet!

Once the girls figured out it was time to dry out, we got back into the car, picked up the baby and some Papa Jon's pizza and headed home.

To quote Kaija (and Sponge Bob) "It was the best day ever!"

Strawberry Picking!

We actually made it to pick strawberries during strawberry season. It's really amazing how many strawberries there will be when you go at the right time!

Summer Fun

Today was another scorcher - at least 96 degrees and humid. The girls' school doesn't have air conditioning, yikes! So since I had off today they stayed home with me.

After taking Chayton to school we headed home for a surprise. I had gotten my duffel bag of"My Friend Mandy" dolls from the attic before we left and opened it up for the girls when we got home. I had saved these for a snow day or rainy day at home -but they were a treat for a super hot day.

The girls absolutly adore the dolls - Mandy, Jenny, Becky and Mikey. Not only do I have my dolls (and my brother's Mikey - thank you, Uncle Geoffrey) but I have all the clothes that my dad had made one Christmas for me - it really is quite amazing all of this stuff. There are pajamas and robes, pantsuits with shirts and kerchiefs to match the cuffs on the jackets (that have belts that tie), overcoats with hats and matching muffs, raincoat with rain booties and a hat ... I could go on forever, thank you Nana and Papa for keeping and passing on this wonderful gift. I spent hours as a child playing with these dolls and now my girls are going to have the same amount of enjoyment.

We did take a break to go visit our friend Rebecca for her bithday party - tho two of the dolls did go with us. It was a great afternoon bbq with old friends and new. Auntie Alisa and the small Vural's also attended, we were quite thrilled to see them.

School has been caceled for tomorrow - another day of surprises await us!
